Employment Certificates (a.k.a. Work Permits)

Is your teenager looking for an after-school job?  See below for important information from the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry:
The Department of Labor and Industry announces the launch of an automated, employment certificate process in accordance with the General Assembly changes to §40.1-92 of the Code of Virginia effective July 1, 2013. Children and their parents no longer need to apply for an employment certificate at their school.

DivorceCare at Blue Ridge Community Church
Blue Ridge Community Church ( supports families dealing with divorce through their DivorceCare programs.  For kids in grades 6-12, there is a discussion group called The Split: Families in Transition that is designed to help students deal with separation or divorce.

"DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone." (BRCC website)

  • The registration cost is $25, which includes the workbook and refreshments.
  • Scholarships are considered; please contact BRCC for an application
  • The Split runs twice a year for 13 weeks on Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00pm. New participants are welcome at any time during the series as long as there is space available.
