    I am Ms. Foran, your Life Science teacher, and I am part of Team Canterbury Castle.
    The other teachers on our team are Ms. Roberts (Math), Mrs. Sprinkle (History), and Mrs. Martin (Language).

    Life Science -- Week of 5/18-5/22

    This week you will be learning about the Cycles in Nature. There will be 2 ways for you to showcase your understanding. Please complete both of them. Check the classwork section of your Science Google Classroom page to get the assignment and turn it in. Posted in the Extended Learning Google Classroom are three other resources for you to use to further your understanding: An Amoeba Sisters video, illustrations of each of the cycles, and a video explanation for each cycle.

    LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:

    1) Complete the Ed Puzzle (Cycles in Nature) in the "classwork" tab of your Life Science GC page.
    2) Complete the Powerpoint Slide show (Cycles in Nature) in the "classwork" tab of your Life Science GC page. You will be viewing the slideshow and stopping to watch any videos and answer any questions that are presented.

    If you would like a plan of what to complete each day, here is a suggestion:

    Monday - Watch the Amoeba sisters video (Carbon and Nitrogen Cycles) and look at each illustration of the cycles. There is also a video to go with each of the illustrations. All of these items are found in the Extended Learning GC.

    Tuesday - Complete the Ed Puzzle (Cycles in Nature) in your Life Science GC page.

    Wednesday - View the Slide show (Cycles in Nature) in your Life Science GC page. You will read through the slide show and stop to view any videos and answer any questions.

    Thursday - Complete any missing assignments from previous weeks as we begin to wrap things up.

    Friday - Complete any missing assignments from previous weeks. :)

    Life Science -- Week of 5/11-5/15

    Monday - Watch the short Biome video posted in Google Classroom. Then, using the Biome Notes in your Google classroom, complete the Biome Scavenger Hunt in Life Science GC "classwork" .

    Tuesday - Using the Biome Notes, complete the Knowledge Check on your Life Science GC page "classwork".

    Wednesday - Using the Biome notes and the GC slide template on your Science GC "classwork" page, complete the slide presentation on the biomes. Directions are on the slide template in "classwork". There is also a video in your Extended Learning GC from Mrs. Lamb explaining the activity further.

    Thursday- Complete the two 7th grade IXL's - V.2 & V.3. and then continue to work on your slide presentation.

    Friday - Complete the slide presentation and turn in.

    Announcement: "Life Science -- Week of 5/4-5/8 *We…"

    Life Science -- Week of 5/4-5/8

    *We will have a "Google Meet Showcase" on Tuesday 5/5 at 2:00. I will post the meeting code at 1:50. We will talk about this week's Life Science learning opportunities, answer questions you may have, then give you a chance to share for a minute or so. You can share a piece of music you are learning, a picture you have painted/drawn, something you have built or designed, etc... This is a time to see your classmates and cheer for their accomplishments. I hope to see you there. I will be recording the Meet, and will post this Wednesday morning.

    *All material (worktext, videos, reading, slideshows...) is posted in your Extended Learning Google classroom.  The learning opportunities to complete are posted in the "classwork" tab in your Life Science Google classroom. 

    Monday - Read the worktext pages and answer the questions on your Science GC page "classwork" and turn it in.

    Tuesday - Watch the video, the google slide presentation, and look at the notes on your Extended Learning GC page and complete the Knowledge Check on your Science GC page "classwork" and turn it in.

    Wednesday - Using the directions on your Extended Learning GC page, begin the "Want Ad" Activity explained in your Science GC page. There are also examples there for you to look at as well as a template you can use. Information is also posted in your Life Science GC "classwork".

    Thursday - IXL W.5 (Classify Symbiotic Relationships) with a score of 80% or higher, and continue to work on your Want Ad Activity.

    Friday - Finish up any of the 4 assigned Learning Opportunities not done and turn them into your Science teacher. :)

    Life Science -- Week of 3/27-5/1


    This week you will be learning about the Transfer of Energy through the Environment. You will have several ways to showcase your learning. Check the classwork section of your Science CG page for more details and to submit your learning opportunities.

    *Students need to access both the Extended Learning Google Classroom and their Life Science Google Classroom.


    If you would like a plan of what to do each day, the following is a suggestion:

    Monday - Read through the slide show/ppt and the notes. After that complete the "knowledge check" in your Life Science GC page.

    Tuesday - View the Food Chain video. Then, use your textbook to complete the questions (1-20) in your Life Science GC page.

    Wednesday - Complete at least 2 IXL's from the list above. (You need a minimum of 4 for the week).
    **Two new learning opportunities will be posted in you Extended Learning Google class page today. Check out these optional interactive Food Chain / Food Web activities.

    Thursday - Complete the "Where Do I Fit In?" google doc in your Life Science GC page.

    Friday - Complete at least 2 more IXL's from the list above. (You need a minimum of 4 for the week).

    Life Science -- Week of 3/20-3/24

    *This week students will be learning about Ecology and the Organization of the Natural Environment. Through the lesson materials students will understand that organisms and their living and non-living environment are interconnected and interdependent.
    *Students need to access both the Extended Learning Google Classroom and their Life Science Google Classroom.
    *Key vocabulary will include: ecology, population, community, ecosystem, biome, biosphere, abiotic, and biotic.
    *Students will be presented with 4 activities: Worktext Questions, a Knowledge Check Form, Levels of the Environment Foldable, and an EdPuzzle Video.
    *We have provided students a suggested schedule for work completion on the Extended Learning classroom and a copy is shown below. Should you or your child have any questions, please contact me (dforan@bedford.k12.va.us) . 

    Office Hours this week will be held on Tuesday, April 21st 2020 at 10 AM through Google Meet. The code to join will be made available at 9:50 AM in the child's Life Science google classroom. 

    Sample Schedule of Work to be Completed-

    Monday - Watch the Ecology Part 1 Section 1 PowerPoint video and look over the Ecology Part 1 Section 1 Notes.  

    Tuesday - Look over the Levels of Organization for Life Graphic Organizer.  Then, using the textbook pages provided (an audio of the textbook is also provided if needed), answer the textbook questions posted in your Science Google Classroom page and submit.

    Wednesday - Complete the Knowledge  Check Form found in the Life Science Google Classroom and begin to work on your Levels of the Environment foldable. Detailed instructions can be found in the Extended Learning classroom and on the assignment page.

    Thursday - Complete the Edpuzzle and continue to work on your foldable."
